Vintage fashion lovers rejoice ! The new exhibit at Phoenix Art Museum, Modern Spirit, opened last night and it’s extraordinary. Curated by Dennita Sewell, the exhibit features fashions from the roaring 20′s and offers an up close look at the youthful styles that liberated American women. Modern Spirit showcases vintage garments and accessories, 1920′s magazine covers from Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and the best vintage hat collection I’ve ever seen !
Here’s a sneak peek at the exhibit; highlights include dresses from Chanel, Patou, Vionnet and some of the very stylish people who attended last night’s opening, dressed to the nines !
There’s an entire wall of Vogue and Harper’s Bazar ( that’s how they spelled it then ) magazine covers from the 20′s. They’re beautifully illustrated works of art on their own.
In case you haven’t heard, you can access the entire Vogue archive at the Phoenix Art Museum library.
And here are some of the very fashionable attendees caught up the Modern Spirit last night…
