Since winning last year’s Emerging Designer Award at Phoenix Fashion Week, Jeanne Hankerson’s bridal couture business has taken flight. After showing her gowns at the New York Bridal show in New York last April, Jeanne designed her second bridal line for Spring 2012. The 13- piece collection will make its first public debut on the runway at Phoenix Fashion Week , Oct. 7. Jeanne will also introduce a limited collection of evening wear done in soft metallics, which she says is a “natural extension” of her growing bridal business.
Jeanne invited us to go behind-the-scenes for SJ Couture‘s Spring catalog shoot, shot here in Paradise Valley at the Montelucia Resort. Jeanne says they chose the chapel at Montelucia because it provided the perfect setting for her new line; with its rustic wooden doors, crystal chandeliers and antique mirrors as a backdrop, Jeanne’s design aesthetic of simple, understated elegance was brought to life before our very eyes.
Molina Fine Jewelers provided all the exquisite jewelry for the shoot; it was truly breathtaking and we oohed and aahed over it all day.
But it was photographer Katina Patiquin‘s amazing work that really brought all the visual elements together, as she captured the romance of a bride on her wedding day – in the gown she’s always dreamed of !
Here’s our exclusive first look at this talented designer’s Spring 2012 bridal line, as photographed by Katina…
Kendra gown details: Full length silk taffeta gown with silk dotted swiss on the bodice, covered buttons down the back. Lined in silk charmeuse.
Sabrina gown details: Italian silk and cotton lace lends a beautiful “touch me” element to this striking tea-length gown, featuring a boat neck, silk charmeuse waistband and a touch of tulle at the hemline.
Fiona gown details: This elegant gown with optional bolero jacket is silk georgette, lined with silk charmeuse. Three ribbons built into waistband can be tied into bows at back. The distinctive bolero jacket features three quarter sleeves, edging in silk charmeuse. Perfect for an evening wedding !
Becky gown details: The French silk lace on the bodice is an elegant re-embroidered lace which gives it a three-dimensional, textured look. The tulle detail peeking out from underneath the skirt adds a feminine, princess-like feel to this dreamy tea-length gown.
Madison gown details: Silk georgette, lined with silk charmeuse and soft, feminine flutter sleeve. Train cascades beneath bow detail in back.
Lulu gown details: Silk duchesse satin bodice, lined in silk charmeuse, with a tulle skirt. The ideal choice for a fairy-tale bride who wants to dance the night away !
