The Fashionably Pink Fashion Show always kicks off Phoenix Fashion Week with a show that celebrates life. I love this show because it’s energetic and happy – the real stars are breast cancer survivors and the most important thing they’re wearing is their joy to be alive !
This year, Phoenix Fashion Week partnered with checkforalump.com to help raise funds for women with breast cancer; things like wigs and low cost mammograms are essential to breast cancer patients struggling to survive and beat the disease with dignity and grace. It’s not easy.
Many women told their stories of the fight not just to survive, but thrive – and to be there to watch their kids grow up.
So when these survivors walk the runway, we get to see smiles like this…
We get to watch them dance.
And we get to high five that they’re alive !
Local Phoenix celebs support these women with runway revelry.
That’s Phil Westbrooks, former Vice Mayor, getting jiggy with it !
Beauty Queens glide down the runway.
Rachel Kasang, Miss Arizona, USA.
Many Phoenix television and radio personalities help shine a light on this important cause.
Catherine Anaya looks stunning – as always.
The beautiful Kyle Unfug, from KISSfm’s, JohnJay & Rich Show.
Of course, JohnJay likes to make a splash, so this year, Phoenix Fashion Week decided to give him a pool in which to do so. He did not pass up the opportunity…
Apparently the water was fine ! Ha !
Phoenix Fashion Week’s Fashionably Pink show is a great reminder that we’re all able to support our community in many different ways – maybe it’s donating time or money, runway fashion, or maybe just giving media coverage to charities that support women in need. Each and every one of these survivors talked about the support they received and how integral it was to their survival. It’s cool we’re able to make a real difference in someone’s life by supporting this event.
I’ll be posting more photos on FaceBook later, but I’d like to leave you with my favorite photo from last night.
It’s this one – breast cancer survivor Angela Harris, walking the runway holding hands with her daughter, Courtney. Their faces say it all.
