When Pantone announces it’s Color of the Year, the design world takes note. Influencing everything from home decor to fashion, the chosen color will be everywhere in 2011. This year’s winner, Honeysuckle, is a dynamic reddish pink, ” a captivating stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going.”
The executive director for the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman says, ” Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits… Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum. ”
Eiseman says, “Honeysuckle is guaranteed to produce a healthy glow when worn by both men and women. It’s a striking, eye-catching hue that works well for day and night in women’s apparel, accessories and cosmetics, and in men’s ties, shirts and sportswear. ”
Bring on the healthy glow !
This color works well with lots of the neutral colors fashion designers have been showing for spring: Camels, khakis, and whites. But it’s also a nice balance for the opposite side of the spectrum, the bold oranges, reds and purples.
If you can’t wait for spring to start wearing this alluring shade, here are a few honeysuckle honeys to get you going !
