Today’s style inspiration comes from a chance encounter at the hair salon on Saturday where Pinnacle High junior Carli Green was sitting next to me as I was being re-blonded. She and stylist Curtis Blue, my uber-fab hair stylist at Joya Salon & Spa, were having a discussion about her hairstyle for prom that evening. She had all her accessories laid out on the counter and was describing her look as a little “vintage” and of course, I got drawn into the conversation about her jewelry choices and the overall look she was going for.
“Can I see the dress ?” I asked.
And when she brings it out, I take one look at it and say, ” You got that at Ted Baker. I just tried that on; I looove that dress ! I love that you’re wearing that to prom ! ”
Now, we’re like instant bff’s and Carli is telling me she wasn’t sure about it, because it’s not your typical prom dress because for one thing, it’s short and I’m all, but it’s a great choice because it’s not your typical prom dress and it’s still elegant and fun and you’re going to look so beautiful in it and then she let me take pictures of her before and promised to send me after pictures too and well, then, here they are…

Carli’s short dress looks so great on her and I think she did a fantastic job of putting together her vintage look, from the Ted Baker dress, to the shoes, to the jewelry, to hair and make-up. And how beautiful is Jordan in that hot pink dress ? Plus, I love that the boys matched their ties to the girl’s dresses.
Don’t they all look amazing ?!!!
It just goes to show that style inspiration is all around us and creating an entire vintage look from one great dress is something everyone can do. But style kudos to Carli for taking the not-so-traditional-prom-dress route and creating a unique look, all her own !
