Lady Gaga posted this picture on Twitter, saying,
“Can’t make me take off my leather, I would rather faint and die of glamour. ”
Whatever…I’ll lay down big odds she’s not wearing leather right now !
And what’s up with those hooves ?

I quite frequently swear at my laptop.
Bad swear words too.
Very unlady-like.
This occurs because it doesn’t move fast enough, or sometimes my programs crash, or I get the little spinny wheel when I’m really in a hurry to move on to whatever life-changing project I need to do next.
But occasionally, I have a moment when it hits me that what technology allows us to do is pretty amazing.
Last night, I’m talking to my bff on the phone and we’re both sitting in front of our computers and we’re talking about really important things, like shoes, and she’s telling me about the new shoes she just bought on sale at E & J in Scottsdale and she’s describing them and then she sends me this while we’re talking.
(I know, cute, huh ? My bff has great taste. )
Anywho, the point is, that in like 5 seconds, she went online, found the shoe, sent me a pic and we moved on to other important subjects,( like handbags ), without even thinking about it. While we’re talking, we’re looking up websites, navigating through them, looking at the Neiman Marcus contest…comparing notes… ho hum. Whatever…
Today, I’m working on my laptop, ( o.k…. I’m on Twitter ) and I see a live U-stream chat going on with Darren Rowse from Pro Blogger, one of the most respected bloggers in the universe, so I switch over to U-Stream and start watching.
On the side is the chat window thingy ( technical term ) where all of the bloggers are signed in and chatting and asking questions, so I’m listening to him and reading their hilarious comments and also the questions they’re asking him and he’s in his home in Australia and he’s answering the questions and there’s like 90 people signed in listening to him give advice and I’m like…WOW !!!
This is pretty amazing to have this kind of access to someone whose blogs I’ve read and enjoyed and then suddenly, here he is in my kitchen and I didn’t even have to whip up any hors d ‘oeuvres.
Not to mention, that when there was a glitch and he went offline for a few minutes, the online conversation going on between the chatters was just damn fine entertainment… Jokes and smiley faces, and personality ooze.
And then one last thing that really kind of brings my long rambling story to a point. ( There’s one in here somewhere…wait for it, wait for it…)
Those of you who have been reading my blog for the short time I’ve been doing this, know that one of the boutiques I talk about is Local Talent in Old Town Scottsdale. I met Shannon McRae, Owner and Fashionista Supreme, a short time ago and she’s one of my favorite people. She’s a true champion of our local fashion designers and she invited me over to the store today. When I got there, she was meeting with a local artist with some really beautiful pieces. She introduced me to him; his name is Stephen Moody. And then Stephen and I both started to laugh, because we went to high school together, some um …. oh let’s say, 20 something years ago.
Yeah, that sounds good.
And there we were, after all these years, reconnecting because I write a fashion blog and he’s a designer/artist/ photographer and it would have never happened without the technology that we take for granted every day.
The best thing about technology is the ability to connect with people.
I want to thank all of you for coming along with me on this little journey I’m taking. I look forward to it every day.
Not just because it allows me to express myself, although that’s certainly wonderful, but for those of you I’ve met in person, who share a love for fashion ( and shoes ) and silliness.
Life moves fast; and so while it seems like we use technology to be more efficient with our time, that’s really not the point. We use it to connect with, laugh with, share with… people. Therein lies the real joy. I’m vowing not to forget that. I’m vowing to be grateful for the times that we live in, for the technical advances that make it possible for us to communicate and enrich each other’s lives.
And so today, I will not swear at the little spinny wheel.
I will patiently wait the entire 3 seconds that he needs to conduct his business, happy in the knowledge that when he finally comes to the end of his eternal rotation, I might reconnect with an old friend, or maybe make a new one.
P.S. Thanks to the girls at SitsGirls for the webcast. I really enjoyed it.
